Reviews
Classy afternoon tea experience with unlimited sandwich and tea refills! Service was phenomenal from the time we first entered the hotel. We were warmly greeted, our coats were taken from us, and we were escorted to our table where they had set up stands for our purses so they wouldn't touch the floor. My friend and I both ordered the red dragon tea, which is delicious and I highly recommend! They started us off with the 4 sandwiches, of which my favorite was the beef sandwich. My friend doesn't eat beef or shellfish and was able to request doubles of the cucumber and avocado sandwiches and refills of this as well. We were able to get several sandwich refills before moving on to the scones and desserts. The cheese scones were not my favorite, but I did enjoy the scones that were served at the tea's conclusion. My favorites were the mission fig compote, coffee and orange delice, and cheesecake to share, which we could barely eat since we were so full. For our second round of teas, I got the organic jade sword and my friend got the peppermint tea. Would not recommend the peppermint since the tea had a lot of tiny tea leaves in it that were too small for the strainer to catch. Overall wonderful experience and highly recommend!
I must admit this restaurant is located in a high-end 5-star hotel, experiencing West Indian (Jamaican Food) fine dining on a different level, was a great experience.
We need more restaurants like this representing my culture.
Each dish was tremendous; and well-flavoured and the presentation was on point.
To get a booking, I had to book way in advance for a reservation (a month), to be honest you can see and taste why.
The restaurant was packed with beautiful backdrop settings.
Compliments to the chef. π«‘
Got to be a 5/5.
We came here for a special occasion, as soon as you walk into the hotel you are greeted by the most amazing smell and fresh flowers. The porters are incredibly friendly and direct you to the afternoon tea room. We were given two options of tables and the service was lovely. Table cloth, table ware, the atmosphere were beautiful. You get your own dedicated waiter all the way through your afternoon tea who explains each course. The food was obviously delicious, and we were asked if we wanted another round of sandwiches which was a nice touch. Overall, we were really full by the end of the afternoon tea and had to take one of the deserts home with us.
We really enjoyed our visit and had a lovely time.
Couple of minor suggestions that I would able to the management:
- The takeaway box is really small and our desert unfortunately was very squashed when we got home, that was quite disappointing. A bigger box would fix this issue.
- For the price tag I think a refill of tea should be offered.
Prior to our UK holiday, I heard great things about the esteemed Palm Courtβs afternoon tea. Sadly, the tea service did not live up to its hype. The service was good, the ambience is nice (apart from the artificial scent they pump through the room that gave me a headache), and the food/tea was just okay. I enjoyed the cucumber sandwich, scones and fig jam. Although the presentation was superb, the other items were forgettable.
A very beautiful experience! A must try for someone looking for the most British tradition to try. Really good atmosphere, the staff was very friendly and we connected very well with them. Excellent food and service.
Had a Festive afternoon tea, some mistakes were made but put right quite quickly.
Service was ok, they were very busy.
I was given the vegan plates when I am a vegetarian and the vegan options are not as nice.
I would preferred them to have a vegetarian option so I can still have dairy butter and dairy cream rather than the vegan option that was not that nice.
The place within itself was pleasant. The staff were friendly but left out the golden eggs which was a vital part of the savoury dishes. Only realised after we had the sweet things so they brought them out.
We liked it but we probably would not go back.
I watched Dom Taylor in Five Star Kitchen on C4 and was chuffed to bits when he won ππΎππΎππΎππΎ. β¦
Fabulous setting, gorgeous food by chef Dom Taylor. Β£75 for three courses was well worth it. Cocktails were divine especially his rum πΉ punch if a bit pricey around Β£19.00. I would go back for the Caribbean inspired excellent food. β¦
